Beh... Snorri Sturluson avrebbe ragione! 
Penso che sia indubbia l'influenza proveniente dall'Edda Poetica e dall'Edda in prosa nella creazione delle opere di Tolkien.
Leggete per esempio il seguente articolo (serio):

Esempio lampante di come un essere umano possa reagire diversamente alla visione di una foto, ovviamente secondo il contesto con il quale la stessa è presentata.
